Building the SAP
FICO Architect

A BW Consultant's Journey into Finance — and how I built a tool that reduces Time-to-Blueprint from 40 hours to 30 seconds.

A technical expert in a functional world

I've spent years as a BW/Datasphere consultant — deep in the technical architecture of data pipelines, info providers, and analytics models. I know how the data moves. I know how it's stored. But SAP FICO? That world — GL accounts, cost centers, profit centers, ACDOCA joins, BKPF structures — operated in a language I wasn't fluent in.

When I started working on projects that required me to bridge technical data modeling with functional finance logic, I hit a wall. Every Blueprint session meant hours of research before I could even frame the right questions. I'd spend days mapping business requirements to the correct S/4HANA tables, figuring out which fields joined to what, and then writing it all up in a Technical Design Document.

"I built this tool to solve my own problem."

40 hours of manual work,
done by hand

Every new FICO reporting requirement followed the same exhausting pattern: read the business requirement, map it to SAP tables, identify the correct join logic between ACDOCA and BKPF, figure out which fields matter for which report, write up the TDD, format it professionally, then translate it into a functional spec for the BI team. For a single requirement, this could easily consume an entire work week.

The gap wasn't just about speed. It was also about confidence. A junior consultant — or a technical expert crossing into the functional world — shouldn't have to spend weeks being uncertain. They should be able to walk into a client meeting with a solid first draft of the architecture, already structured and validated.

From requirement to blueprint in seconds

The SAP FICO Architect is a specialized AI agent. You describe your business reporting requirement in plain language — for example, "I need a P&L report by profit center and cost center from S/4HANA" — and the tool handles everything else.

  • Automated ACDOCA/BKPF Join Logic
Identifies the correct S/4HANA tables, field mappings, and join conditions — eliminating hours of documentation research.
  • Professional 3-page TDD PDF Export
Generates a client-ready Technical Design Document — structured, formatted, and professional. The kind that usually takes 2 days to write.
  • Clean Functional Report Specifications (Excel Export)
A structured Excel sheet with field mapping, data types, and business logic — ready to hand off to the functional or BI team.
  • Direct Data Journey Visualizer
A visual diagram tracing the full data path: S/4HANA → Datasphere → SAC — so every stakeholder can see the architecture in a single glance.

Reducing Time-to-Blueprint

In SAP projects, the blueprint phase sets the entire delivery trajectory. A slow or inaccurate blueprint means rework, scope creep, and budget overrun. The FICO Architect addresses this directly — not by replacing the consultant, but by giving them a validated first draft instantly.

For a BW/Datasphere expert like me, this tool didn't just save time — it gave me functional fluency on demand. I could now walk into a FICO blueprint workshop prepared, having already mapped ACDOCA to the requirement, having already structured the TDD, having already visualized the data journey from S/4HANA to SAC.

The result: what used to take a working week now happens before the first coffee of the day.

The honest reason:
I needed it myself

Every tool in the SAP × AI suite started as a solution to a problem I personally faced. I wasn't trying to build a product portfolio — I was trying to do my job better.

The FICO Architect was born out of the gap between two worlds I inhabit: the technical BW/Datasphere space and the functional FICO domain. Bridging that gap manually was slow, exhausting, and error-prone. So I built a tool that does it automatically — and then made it available for anyone else who finds themselves in that same in-between space.

If you're a BW consultant who keeps getting pulled into FICO discussions, or a functional analyst who needs to communicate with the data team — this tool was built for you.
